This volume compiles original manuscripts of more than 100 famous French writers from the 13th to the 20th centuries - Rene Descartes, Charles Baudelaire, Jean-Paul Sartre, Marcel Proust, Honore de Balzac, Colette, Guy de Maupassant and Gustave Flaubert among them. The manuscripts are reproduced with colour illustrations and accompanied by translations, portraits of the authors and biographical analyses. Some of the works are well known and others are excerpts from journals, letters and memoirs.
