Lofts in Berlin is the fifth book in a series embracing a total of seven volumes and dedicated to the loft as a special kind of dwelling and living. Loft living may not have been invented in Berlin, but in no other city in Germany is the new style of dwelling as fashionable, for in Berlin there is a clientele that appreciates varied possibilities of laying out the large spaces. Standing empty, rear buildings and courtyards with that special touch of "Kreuzberg mixture" and a certain faded charm of elegant dilapidation provide a perfect playground for, as it is described nowadays, "coming home to work." As you will see, it's a long time ago now since loft living was a Bohemian existence. The photographs speak for themselves.
